Liberia Missions

Our partnership with Jessy and Colandra Togba-Doya in Balama, Liberia is a dream come true. The Balama Project is an international outreach initiative of Wieuca Road Baptist Church, assisted by the support of many Georgia churches, focused on reaching neglected people groups in remote villages of Liberia. It is a continuation of a long standing relationship between Wieuca and the people of Liberia.

The idea of such a project came out of a desire to reach neglected people groups in remote villages who have not had an opportunity to receive an education and hear the gospel. The project’s goal is to address the psychosocial, educational, and spiritual needs of ex-child soldiers and the community at large. The project will provide trauma counseling for ex-child soldiers, take and reconcile them to their home villages. Additionally, an intentional effort will be made to educate and dialogue with tribal authorities on the danger of female circumcision and its haunting effects on women. Also, a six-classroom school building will be constructed to serve as educational and worship space. The Togba-Doya’s goal is to give both boys and girls equal opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve their God-given potentials. Wieuca is excited about our partnership with the project leaders, Jessy and Calandra Togba-Doya.
