Classes meet at 9:40 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
One size doesn’t fit all in adult Sunday School at Wilshire. Especially if you are new to Wilshire, we encourage you to try on several classes until you find the right fit.
Most classes, unless noted, include both men and women, couples and singles. Although general age ranges are given, people of all ages are welcome to participate in any class.
Labyrinth - Community Hall Room 303
This newest class for 20s and early 30s, married and singles is taught primarily by Cameron Vickrey and directed by Jay and Katy Pritchard. It is a combination of Bible exploration and contemporary questions of faith. Topics range from Old Testament Bible stories, heard anew of for the first time, to questions surrounding faith and science, scripture and truth. This class aims to be a safe space for dialogue and deepening of faith.
FaithPlus - Community Hall Room 306
FaithPlus is a group of married and single young adults dedicated to growing together in faith through study, service and social activities. This class focuses on studying the Biblical and theological concepts and engages in local and international mission opportunities, including serving the third Sunday of each month. Avodah - Community Hall Room 311
"Avodah" is a Hebrew word meaning both “work” and “worship.” Singles and couples, mainly in their 30s, discuss how to bridge the gap between Sunday worship and Monday living. Topics are selected by the class and have ranged from examining a theology of money, to the theology of U2 and often include video segments. Teachers are Alan Wright and Andrew Warden.
Genesis- Community Hall Room 312
This class includes couples, mainly in their early 30s, who have young children. Strong biblical focus guides discussions, led by a rotation of teachers.
Seekers -Community Hall Room 304
This diverse group of young adults is constantly seeking to follow God’s will through study, prayer and interaction with one another. Bill Hollis and several tachers rotate responsibilities. Most class members are in their 30s and have young children.
Beginnings Class - The 2012 class is March 25 - May 6. Once a year, Wilshire offers a short-term course designed especially for newly married or nearly married couples. The Beginnings Class gives a biblical perspective on issues most important to couples as they begin a shared life together: Communication, finances, intimacy, spirituality. The program is certified by Twogether in Texas.
